BE A HERO FOR THE AMERICAN RED CROSS

The American Red Cross Service To Armed Forces Center raised $1769.82 for the local Heroes Campain.

Fort Sill Red Cross achieves “Hero” status for local Lawton, Oklahoma Red Cross:

For the third year in a row, the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces Center and the SAF Station at Fort Sill, Oklahoma attained “Hero” status by donating at least $1000 to the Great Plains Service center (Lawton, Oklahoma) Red Cross. Staff, volunteers, and family members participated in a kick-off dance event; a weekly silent auction; and an “in-house garage sale”, with various Red Cross memorabilia being featured …all donated by fellow active and retired Red Crossers. And of course food sales were included; the highlight event being “Hot Dogs for Heroes”. Total proceeds for the 2009 campaign came to $1769.62, all designated for local Lawton Red Cross operations …particularly disaster response efforts during recent wild fires that destroyed several homes and businesses in southwest Oklahoma.

This community has demonstrated their generosity and willingness to help with national, international, and local disasters.   Now, we ask you again to demonstrate your leadership to guarantee that we can continue to take care of disaster victims here in the Great Plains service area.

The American Red Cross is not a government agency and all Red Cross disaster assistance is free thanks to the generosity of people like you. The value of your donation is increased by the fact that the ratio of volunteer Red Cross workers to paid staff is almost 36 to one. Contributions to the American Red Cross, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible for computing income and estate taxes.
